Wouldn't it be better to send the children on a sweets tour this year? «Espresso» says what applies.

Author: Sabrina Lehmann, Maria Kressbach

Halloween is just around the corner, usually great fun for the kids. This year, however, the ghost day will be accompanied by a special spook - the corona crisis. Due to the current situation, many parents wonder whether they should still send their little, creepy characters from door to door.

As long as the kids stick to the rules, they can make the rounds.

At the request of the consumer magazine “Espresso”, the Federal Office of Public Health wrote: “As long as the children stay in small groups, keep their distance (depending on age), respect hygiene and distance rules as well as national and cantonal regulations, they can do the rounds." Specifically, this means: the children should stand in front of the door, the adults put on a face mask and it is better not to use large buckets of sweets where everyone can help themselves.

You should do without this time and put the children off until 2021.

The Federal Food Safety Office (FSVO) sees it differently. In the current situation, the Halloween tour is not a good idea. "You should do without this time and put the children off until 2021," writes the FSVO media outlet. If you do not want to do without it, you should absolutely adhere to the hygiene and distance rules.

Certain municipalities and cantons go further. The Health Department of the Canton of Bern urgently advises against Halloween meetings on the street and door-to-door tours. The spread of the coronavirus can only be contained if the entire population helps to reduce the possibility of infection, according to a statement.

How are you celebrating Halloween this year? Let us know in the comments.

It is the eve of All Saints 'Day, "all holys even" = the evening before All Saints' Day, in America it has degenerated into its own "holiday", in this form it has nothing to do with Europe .... What a shame, beautiful Europe, you sacrifice your beautiful traditions just to be "up to date", this "Halloween nonsense" is a testimony that you only exist in the east, there Europe is still Europe, even if without insurance and money, but at least!

Halloween is not a Swiss custom - you should look at it from this angle. We don't have to take on all the junk the Americans do - just moneymaking anyway!

but not an American custom either. He comes from the Celts. It was also a form of thanksgiving for the harvest. The Irish brought it with them when they emigrated to America.
